The exclusive summer program of ISSOS, offers high school students (aged 13-18) the unique opportunity to combine learning, creative enrichment and action-packed adventure in the world renowned and stunning university town of St Andrews. Students who gain a place at ISSOS will be able to create a personalised three-week program to suit both their academic needs and wider interests, by choosing one academic and one elective program. At the ISSOS we believe that each student deserves to discover their potential and acquire the skills, confidence and motivation to make things happen and bring about change. An exciting series of interactive workshops, energetic summer school activities and fun-filled challenges specifically designed to inspire and enable each and every student to uncover their unique abilities, develop greater confidence and master strategies for success in the classroom and beyond.
What will it cover?
Our Youth Leadership summer school course gives students the opportunity to discover their own potential by developing interpersonal and leadership skills, increasing their self-confidence and acquiring the motivation and ability to bring about change.
Rather than focusing on any specific school curriculum, this summer school program offers hands-on learning enabling all students, regardless of background, experience or ability level, to get ahead.

Wat studenten zullen leren
Ons drie weken durende zomerprogramma voor jong leiderschap is ontworpen om studenten te helpen zelfvertrouwen op te bouwen, leiderschapsvaardigheden te ontwikkelen en te leren over de impact die ze op de wereld kunnen hebben. Het programma is gebaseerd op de overtuiging dat goed leiderschap draait om het helpen van anderen en dat echte verandering plaatsvindt wanneer we samenwerken en het goede voorbeeld geven.
De lessen omvatten boeiende activiteiten, zoals groepsdiscussies, teamopdrachten, praktische workshops en persoonlijke reflectieoefeningen, die allemaal zijn ontworpen om studenten te helpen leren in realistische situaties.
Elke dag van het programma is gericht op het stap voor stap ontwikkelen van de leiderschapsvaardigheden van de studenten. Belangrijke concepten zoals leiderschap, emotionele intelligentie en leiderschapsstijlen worden eerst geïntroduceerd, en naarmate de weken vorderen, voegen we daar teamwork, communicatie, spreken in het openbaar en het overwinnen van belemmerende overtuigingen aan toe.
Het programma als geheel moedigt studenten aan om de kracht van kleine acties te erkennen die een groot verschil kunnen maken, en te begrijpen hoe eenvoudige daden van steun een blijvende impact op anderen kunnen hebben.
Aan het einde van het programma hebben de studenten belangrijke vaardigheden ontwikkeld, zoals teamwork, communicatie, het stellen van doelen, emotionele intelligentie en spreken in het openbaar. Ze zullen ook vertrekken met meer zelfvertrouwen, een beter begrip van leiderschap en de instrumenten om een positieve impact op de wereld te hebben.
Voordat studenten met Engels als tweede taal aankomen, wordt hen gevraagd een Engelse taaltoets van de British Council af te leggen. We doen dit om ervoor te zorgen dat iedereen in een geschikte klas terechtkomt en optimaal profiteert van zijn of haar tijd bij ISSOS.
